So, Hunter Hammersen designed a really classic hat pattern. I love the way the ribbing sets off the lattice.
But, I’m a little bit OCD so I opted for ALL lattice. I know, you’re shocked. Now, this seemed like a perfectly reasonable thing to do until I got to the decreases. Once I figured them out, I was home free, right? Wrong. It was too small for my head and I needed to rip out 20 rows of decreases and figure out what row in the pattern I was on before continuing. Thankfully, I’m getting really good at recovering from mistakes.
Motivated by Plucktember, and the stolen time over the holiday, this was still a quick knit. Glamour shots coming soon (post-blocking).
Mine raveled here. (and there’s a KAL on ravelry if you’re interested. Everyone is super friendly, so stop on by!)

Love your interpretation of the pattern! I’m impressed that you were able to figure it all out; I’ve never really modified any patterns I’ve knit that much, except to change what kind of heel a sock has. (I do love my short row heels …)
I’m getting more brave as time goes on. There’s less knitting in a hat than a pair of socks, so even if I totally screw it up, it’s only a couple days of knitting. seems harmless.
Ooooh, I love it all lattice! Nice mods.
Thank you so much!
oo fab hat!
Thanks so much!
Great job on modifying this pattern – I like the all over lattice version.
Going through all the trouble of figuring out the decreases was well worth it.
Thanks! Yes, once I was successful, it was worth it for sure and wasn’t that big a pain, I just wanted it to look decent in the end.
I like it better with all lattice. I’m a little OCD when it comes to symmetry.
Yea, I’m terribly predictable that way. Also, I like spreadsheets. a lot.
You make the prettiest things :)
awww. thanks!
