What is a WoW Blanket, one might ask.
Once upon a time, in a land pretty seriously close to here, TH lived with a yarn addict. This yarn addict started out knitting and was too slow, so she took up crocheting and then learned a different technique and started knitting again. She knitted and hooked (crocheted) lots of baby blankets (and a lapghan). TH wondered if she would ever knit or crochet for him. So, she measured and started the HUGE navy single crocheted blanket that would probably have a foot pocket.
Then, the hooker got so bored with single crocheting navy yarn that she could not take it any more.
So, she abandoned the 1/3 of the way done navy blanket and shoved it in a tower of the castle. At this point, she got inspired by her husbands World of Warcraft addiction (they are a perfect pair) and decided to crochet him a lovely blue/gold Alliance lion blanket. So, she began. She got 10% done and realized that to line up stitches exactly right, you must work it all from the front. This was not going to happen. So, a wise knitting lady in waiting said, why don’t you knit the dragon?
So, she began THE WOW BLANKET. It will be 516 rows (plus or minus 16 rows depending on standard deviation). It may have a foot pocket. It has TH’s WoW character name and the Alliance lion fair isled on it and will be edged in gold chevron ripples (points). It is about 47% done right now.
The princess is saving the closing ceremony of the Olympics on her tivo to watch when she’s finishing the blanket and there may or may not be a celebratory party (perhaps even a party of just two :) ) when it is finally slayed (slain?).

I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.
I’m so excited to have finished the entrelac hat and added a pom pom to the top! :) At one point, I was in total despair, but I figured it out and now I’m very happy to call it done! :) It makes me think of a song from My Fair Lady:
You did it!You did it! You did it! You said that you would do it,And indeed you did. I thought that you would rue it; I doubted you’d do it. But now I must admit it That succeed you did. You should get a medal Or be even made a countess. It was nothing. Really nothing. All alone you hurdledEv’ry obstacle in sight. Now, wait! Now, wait! Give credit where it’s due, A lot of the glory goes to you.But you’re the one who did it,Who did it, who did it! As sturdy as Gibraltar, Not a second did you falter. There’s no doubt about it,You did it! I must have aged a year tonight. At times I thought I’d die of fright.Never was there a momentary lull Shortly after we came in I saw at once we’d easily win; And after that I found it deadly dull. You should have heard the ooh’s and ah’s; Ev’ry one wondering what it was. You’d think they’d never seen a baby hat before. And when the people on FacebookAsked to see it, And left the comments on the page…! I said to me: You did it! You did it! You did it! They thought it was ecstaticAnd so damned aristocratic,And they never knewThat youDid it! Thank Heavens for Google. If it weren’t for it I would have died of frustration. It was there, all right. And up to its old help. Congratulations,Katherine, For your glorious victoryCongratulations, KatherineYou’ll be mentioned in history!
Sing hail and hallelujah!Ev’ry bit of credit For it all belongs to you! That evening, self, you did it! You did it! You did it!You said that you would do it And indeed you did. That evening, sir, you did it! You did it! You did it! We know that we have said it, But-you did it and the credit For it all belongs to you!Ok, that’s probably a bit much, but the pattern was intermediate and so now, I can officially consider myself an intermediate knitter. I’ve learned entrelac and the three needle bind off as well as how to make a pom pom. :)
In the next few days, it will be mailed off to its forever home and once it has been received, I’ll add a pic of the masterpiece. :)

Oh happy day! My swine flu blog is my second blog to achieve the fame of having two comments. What a momentous day! :)
I’d like to thank the Academy and my supportive family.
speaking of them, today I was thinking it would be fun to tell you all a little about the people that must share my world.
TH (the husband):
if you’re new to my blog, you may not understand why I call him this…but a lot of knitting bloggers seem to call their husbands DH for dear husband and I’m just not that warm and fuzzy, so I’ve decided I like TH. :)
you probably have got an idea of him in your head from your religious blog following, so I probably don’t need to say too much here.
I get to see a side of him that not many ppl do and it’s a blast. :)
he’s totally a genius (and not just cause he was smart enough to marry me). :)
Syd (Sydney):
her hobbies are jogging, chasing deer, running through the mud and tall grass, eating, staring at me and trying to make me read her mind….oh, and her fav. pastime is laying her head in my lap while I blog. :)…..seriously, she’s doing it right now. :)
my mom:
my mom is the sweetest and she’s very handy in a hair emergency (think cosmetology). She is learning to be a fan of inside pets thanks to Syd (and 6 mos. of training) :).. my mom has a great smile……and she is my favorite partner for 42.
my dad:
my dad is truly unique. he is an accounting whiz, a GREAT storyteller, can sew, bake, grow all kinds of plants, and likes to shop…he’s the best.
my brother:
my “little” brother has grown up to be a lot taller than me. he got married last year and I’m still in shock that he’s an adult. he still acts like a kid a lot of the time. I’m very proud that my obnoxious cute pest of a brother has grown up and found a job that not only suits him, but helps everyone else too… he’s a firefighter.
my sister:
she lives out of state, and has 3 great kids.
I include more ppl than this when I think of my family, but I think that is enough for today. I hope everyone has a great Friday! and to those out there that faithfully comment on the blog (and you know who you are), my sincerest and deepest thanks! :)
