Comments Off on Test Knitting for Hunter!
Category: knitting & crocheting

As you may have noticed, I’m somewhat of a fangirl of Hunter Hammersen. I LOVE her sock book and I’m already excited about her next book and I don’t even know what the theme is.
A good friend, let’s call her Meghan, called me when she noticed Hunter was calling for test knitters and I immediately signed up. I was assigned my pattern and got right to work. The lace pattern is very classic and I love it in this green.
TH actually took the pics because I was nearly getting my arm out of socket trying to take the pictures right outside his study window. Now, he could have just continued laughing, but he graciously came outside to offer assistance and discuss the pros/cons of bright sunlight while taking pictures of knitting.

Originally, this one was going to be a Christmas gift, but I ended up knitting a second knit test pattern of Hunter’s and that one felt more like the giftee to me, so I believe I’ll keep this set for my very own.

Ps. I will be wearing the daylights out of these on St. Paddy’s Day.

It is about 90 degrees outside and I might be one of the few people in Texas already getting excited about Christmas.

OH MY GOSH! It just thundered outside. It might rain?!!?! If it does, I’m pausing in my blogging and going out to dance in it. I haven’t felt rain in four months? five? I can’t remember.

I digress. I have started on my Christmas knitting since I don’t have a lot going on for Halloween this year and Thanksgiving to me is generally the day I put up my Christmas tree. Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful Thanksgiving morning, through the turkey dinner, and until the last dish is washed. Then, when everyone else feels like napping, I get a little bit gleeful and drag out all the shiny ornaments. Here are a couple of the ornaments that I’ve completed so far. Here’s my version of the Amigurumi Snowball by Dawn Finney. This will be the only one of these I make since you have to sew it up at the end and it was difficult to make it fairly round. Even though I hate finishing work, I have to admit to enjoying the magic of the mattress stitch!

This Jingle Bell Hat is the free Deck the Balls pattern by Sonia Ruyts. Instead of cinching up the end, I wove in the end and rolled up the bottom. I glued it to a medium sized jingle bell with GOOP.

It is raining!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m outta here (picture Sound of Music style spinning in the rain on a hill covered in very very dead grass).

Comments Off on Buried, the movie (SPOILER ALERT!)
Category: movie reviews

Spoiler Alert! Seriously, when you get done reading this, you probably will not want to bother with the movie.

I got the movie Buried from blockbuster mostly out of curiousity. How were they going to make a 20-30 minute supply of air last 2 hours. My curiousity only got stronger when the movie started out with Ryan Reynolds already buried. And somehow, the people that were mean enough to bury him were nice enough to bury him with a cell phone, a lighter, glow sticks, a pen, and a flask? Curiouser and Curiouser.

So, he’s buried alive and he doesn’t know where.
Things can’t get much worse.
He can’t seem to get ahold of anyone that will help him or believe him and his wife won’t answer the phone.
He’s having to use a lighter to see and that is using up some of his oxygen.
Surely things can’t get much worse.
A snake is able to get into the “coffin” with him.
His pen doesn’t write very well.
He has spotty cellular phone coverage.
His phone battery is almost dead.
Things can’t possibly get much worse.
The terrorists let him know that the woman in his convoy will be killed if he doesn’t cut off his finger and send them videos of it so they can air them and ransom him.
After he makes the video, the military is mad at him because he’s fueling the kidnappings.
Seriously? How can things get much worse?
He should be running out of air.
The company he’s working for call him to let him know that he’s been fired as of that morning for fraternizing with the woman who by this point is dead which is against company policy so his family is going to get no life insurance after he’s dead.
They were just coworkers and her family is out of luck also AND his wife is going to be told he’s been cheating on her.
The military bombs the town he’s near, so the coffin is now leaking sand and he’s going to suffocate.
And all the guys that know where he’s buried are now dead.
Then, just in nick of time, it seems that he’s miraculously going to be rescued!
Nope. Wrong guy. They’ve found a different American buried in the desert and RR dies. nice.

I have now realized that just when you think you’re buried alive in the desert and things can’t be any worse? They totally totally can.
