I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

I took The Husband’s plain black socks (and TH) to see Brave in 3D at 9:45am at the Alamo Drafthouse….TH’s idea to minimize the crowd and it was a great call.
Brave
The story is strong, the film is gorgeous and has a beautiful soundtrack. I suspect it will take its place beside Steel Magnolias as a timeless classic about the complexity that is the mother-daughter relationship. Overall, excellent!
Ps. Get there early if you go to Alamo because the Pixar shorts are icing on the cake.

“Seaweed yarn” contains Sea Cell which is a cellulose based fiber made from seaweed according to Handmaiden’s web site. Their yarn is what I was drooling over at my LYS. It seems very shiney and soft and totally luxurious (Sea Cell seems most often paired with silk). What it is not is long-wearing (which is what I need for socks). On ravelry, I found some gorgeous Sea Silk / Sea Sock projects. Observe.

Ps. Happy Friday! :)

Once upon a Thursday, I was trying to figure out if Sea Cell would be an ok sock yarn component (survey says no) and I was able to welcome an ipad owner that was surfing Ravelry in my LYS to Texas. She just moved here and I can say that I am glad she did….although I think at some point, I might have to find something I can knit with Sea Cell. The idea of knitting with seaweed is just too inviting – weird things hold appeal for me.

Oh, and I fell down and bought yarn. It is Lorna’s Laces Solemate and Cascade Heritage Silk. One day, these hanks will grow up to be lovely socks.
