before a fall….or in this case before I spent 3 days trying to figure out what in the heck I was doing because it sure as frack wasn’t reading the chart (you know, from the pattern I thought was pretty easy).
One of my sweet friends suggested that maybe there was an error with the pattern. Sure, an error where the ninth time you read a chart, suddenly, there’s an error? Yea, that’s probably it.
By the time I quit diagnosing, picking up stitches, dropping stitches, picking up different stitches, being unappy with how the lace looked and sucked it up and unknit all the way back (6 rows) to the spot where I lost all reason, several days had passed. This is the point where I told myself that I’m 50% process knitter and unknitting is sort of the same as knitting. I think we all know it’s not.
I was finally able to finish the first sock and am working on the second one….and you can bet your sweet arse I’m paying attention to the chart.
Ps. To see what other folks are working on, go check out Tami’s Amis.

It seems I neglected to add the photos of the new yarn I got. I didn’t mean to be such a selfish cow. Here you go!
Viking of Norway Nordlys - color 957
Already got the ball band off the Berroco to see how it would knit up.
hint: It is self-striping, so the German Twisted Cast On I prefer jacked up the striping and I ripped it out. Hopefully, a little Knitted Cast On action will set things to rights.
Berroco Sox - color 1425
This one’s for Hunter, who seems to have infected me with her love of orange.
Fiesta Baby Boom – color Sun Face

A local yarn shop review.
I was asked if I needed help when I entered the shop, but felt like I was interrupting the knitting group that was going on. Honestly, the whole group was giving off a pretty unhappy vibe for ladies knitting in a yarn shop in the middle of the day on a Thursday. Or maybe I looked a bit too Austin hippy for their taste in my flip flops, frayed jeans and T-shirt (Texas “winters” rock). Either way, I was able to get the help I needed finding a few things I’ve not seen previously. I bought:
Fiesta Baby Boom – Sun Face (first orange I’ve purchased with the intention to knit socks for myself)
Viking of Norway Nordlys superwash – 957 aka purple/pink. (I would have preferred the blue, but it was too smurfy).
sorry about the quality - I realized the glare was BAD later.
The bags and bags of yarn around the store were somewhat off-putting too, so I doubt I’ll be back just because I wasn’t a fan of the whole feel of the shop. But, in the interest of fairness, I should note that there is a 10% discount for joining the shop’s ravelry group and the shop’s prices are pretty reasonable with the discount.
