I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

I’m test knitting a pattern for Hunter Hammersen and I love the pattern. It is a quick knit, is not overly complicated and I am enchanted by all the leafy business. In a moment of unoriginality, I chose green yarn.

I neglected to put two and two together and was supposed to be doing one purl rather than two down each side of the foot. The point of test knitting is to find these spots, so that was all good. But, I’m just OCD enough that I wanted to “fix” my sock. I was feeling both adventurous and lucky, so I decided to ride that wave and drop the stitches and then pick them all up as knit 2 togethers, knits, purls, and slip slip knits as they should have been. I was more than a little pleased with myself to turn this

In other more exciting news, Hunter’s new book is available for pre-order and it is lovely. She has some nice goodies for folks that pre-order now, so pop on over and pick it up.

I knit the Polyommatus argiolus socks and the Smerinthus ocellatus socks, so I can vouch for the patterns being both beautiful and well-written.

Last weekend, The Husband and I pulled everything out of my craft closet including the shelves and rods, spackled, painted and then…he installed elfa in my craft closet for me…on his birthday. Ladies and gents, if I didn’t love the daylights out of him before (and I did), I sure do now.

Elfa 1

Elfa 2

I’m not saying I literally jumped up and down with glee, but I cannot say that I didn’t.

These are not new finished objects, but as you haven’t seen them in the wild yet, I thought I’d share.
Polypodium vulgare Socks
One of the things I love about living in the country is more than one car slowed down to make sure I was ok and that they didn’t need to stop and assist me. I smiled and waved and they continued on. I’m pretty sure the car that drove by while I was sitting butterfly-style, head bent over my feet in a field of flowers trying to take pictures of my feet thought I was a few bricks short of a load, but the harmless kind of crazy.

Tip for the day: Barbed wire is helpful for these types of photos, but you need to be very careful.
