I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

The “I wish Daryl was here.” socks are finished.

Pattern: Night of the Living Dead Socks (wasn’t crazy about the pattern write-up, but the idea was super fun and I figured it out – this is NOT a great pattern for your first pair of socks).

For a change of pace, let’s talk about the Claire de Lune yarn.
Clair de Lune means moonlight in French.

Finished the first Muppet sock (Vanessa antiopa Socks by Hunter Hammersen) including switching out the purled toe for a ribbed toe to match the cuff. I didn’t love the idea of a purled toe with this colorway – I do love the ribbed toe.

Then, I started the second sock. Wasn’t happy with the pooling (deja vu) – too much green all on one side. Frogged it. Started over.

These socks were going to be for my mom and I was worried they would be too small. They were a wee bit tight and it turns out that she’s not a huge fan of the colorway even though she did like the pattern. Luckily for me, Turtle LOVES the colors and they’ll fit her. Winning!

I felt like a genius for coming up with this pattern (Vanessa antiopa Socks) and colorway pairing and getting them to play nice… until I reached the heel. After turning the heel, yarn started pooling in a Kermit-like manner on top of the sock (a lot of green). (note: I gave up on the dpn’s with this pattern and switched to circular needles – there was some laddering and I finally decided it was not worth it.)

Muppet Sock 1

Once I got down to 66 stitches, the color pooling started to behave itself a bit better and things were once again chugging along…..until I realized that I did not actually read the pattern and was supposed to have continued row ONE of the chart all the way through the gusset decreases. Well, crap.

Muppet Sock 2

I must frog. This makes me think of Kermit again.

Muppet Socks 3

Ok. Row one ’til I finish the decreases. check. Now, onto the foot AND the rest of the chart. In spite of the false starts, I still think these socks are a quick fun knit.
