I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

I’m test knitting a pattern for Hunter Hammersen and I love the pattern. It is a quick knit, is not overly complicated and I am enchanted by all the leafy business. In a moment of unoriginality, I chose green yarn.

I neglected to put two and two together and was supposed to be doing one purl rather than two down each side of the foot. The point of test knitting is to find these spots, so that was all good. But, I’m just OCD enough that I wanted to “fix” my sock. I was feeling both adventurous and lucky, so I decided to ride that wave and drop the stitches and then pick them all up as knit 2 togethers, knits, purls, and slip slip knits as they should have been. I was more than a little pleased with myself to turn this

In other more exciting news, Hunter’s new book is available for pre-order and it is lovely. She has some nice goodies for folks that pre-order now, so pop on over and pick it up.

I knit the Polyommatus argiolus socks and the Smerinthus ocellatus socks, so I can vouch for the patterns being both beautiful and well-written.

Ps. To see what other folks are working on, go check out Tami’s Amis and Small Things Yarn Along (I just started Vampire Academy on my nook, so no pic for the Yarn Along.).

A girl after my own heart. I’m always ripping out a big chunk of sock and working it back up. Likely takes longer than just ripping back, but somehow feels more like forward progress (I HATE to rip).

    Thanks for all your help!

    That’s hardcore. I’m impressed.

Oooo! Surgery! Sometimes I like to dissect and fix mistakes like this, but mostly I’m too terrified I’m going to screw the whole thing up beyond repair. That’s obviously not a problem here. :-D

Nice color and pretty pattern. Will check out the book.

Your sock is fantastic! You’re so daring just dropping the stitches and knitting them back up. Great job:)

It’s like magic! Seriously, those are some fun photos to see. I didn’t know that you test knit, how adventurous you are

I test knit for Hunter so I can get my hands on the patterns faster. Drooling over patterns on her blog is torture. :)

  7. Oh that ripped picture makes me feel slightly seasick :) I’d never have the nerve! Lovely pattern. I’m knitting Ensnared now!

  8. Wow, that was some surgery! Love the pattern and the colour.

Nice socks. Love the colour, perfect given the pattern.
Oh yes that kind of unknitting is the best.
