Ok, I’m trying not to be bitter with Lorna’s Laces because I’m reasonably sure it is not the yarn’s fault that every time I knit with it, the socks seem to be cursed. But….the evidence is mounting.
To recap, there were the Mermaids. Then, the Gentlemen’s Fancy Socks.
and now….the Rainbow Connection Muppet Socks are giving me a wee bit of trouble.
Pattern: Vanessa Antiopa by Hunter Hammersen
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces solemate
Colorway: Rainbow
Take 1 – size Large 2.25mm (got gauge, but I really don’t like the way the yarn is pooling)
Take 2 – size Medium 2.5mm needles
This striping pleases me, but I’ve just realized that I’m not doing the twisted decreases, but rather just plain ole knit two togethers. I’m totally going to end up ripping back to the ribbing……..Third time’s the charm. (she types optimistically while humming Rainbow Connection to herself)

Ha! I just bought a skein of this yarn! I wish I was able to look at a skein and figure out how it was going to knit–whether it was going to stripe or be uber-variegated or something in between. I’m excited to see your progress on these. I think the color/pattern combo is a good one.
I can’t wait to see what you make with yours!
I feel your pain. After taking my work in progress photo of my latest sock I frogged the entire thing and started over this morning. I wish I could blame the yarn but it is definitely the knitter’s fault.
eep! the Whole thing! yikes!
love that yarn, i like the way both takes look, different but good.
thank you! I couldn’t handle all the green on one side and all the red/purple on the other.
I must admit that I like take 2 better than take 1, good call! I’m loving the striping. I think that these will not be cursed, at least I’m hoping they won’t be!
They seem to have outgrown their curse. Fingers crossed! (it is hard to knit with my fingers crossed, but I’m managing.)
You’re so diligent in making sure you have the gauge and coloring you like, it will all be worth it when you have the finished pair exactly the way you imagined. That colorway is stunning.
Thank you! I sure hope so!!! :)
Beautiful yarn.
Thank you!!!
I LOVE THAT SONG! and rainbows, and um socks… it’s a win win for you no matter what… someday you’ll find it
the yarnies, the patterns, and me!
Yay rainbows! At least it’s a fun color you get to keep working with longer, right?
true. but, um, I have 3 different other rainbow hanks in my stash waiting in line!
Love that color.
Rip back to the ribbing? I just might need to start using that. Probably won’t mean the same as what you mean…but nevertheless, it’s good.
