Katherine the Great
I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

A while back, I recommended a baby blanket pattern to a friend that was just starting to cable. It turned out not to be that easy for a first cabling project and she had a little bit of a hot mess on her hands after the second cross. Unsure which row she was on, she was getting ready to throw up her hands. Since the pattern was my idea, I told her I’d take a look, get it straightened out, give it back to her, and tell her which row was next…as long as she wasn’t in a big hurry. She wasn’t.

Fast forward a couple of months. I’m mentally in between projects and I wanted something soothing to work on while I watched Glee. Since, I’ve knit this project before, unknitting it and figuring out what was going on was just what The Doctor ordered.

They don’t look that much different, but basically, I just unknit a couple of rows and then read the knitting to see which row was next. I was going to knit a few rows just to help her get into the flow of the blanket, but I remembered that I’m a much more uptight knitter (I know. You’re shocked.) than she is and the last thing she needs is 3 or 4 TIGHT rows in the middle of the baby blanket, plus… it was getting late.

Since, it is finished object Friday, here’s my finished blanket in a blast from the past.

This past May, I was spending quite a bit of time at the vet office. So, I cast on plain black socks for The Husband because that suited my mood at the time. When they had Sydney in the back running tests, I would occupy my mind with stitch after stitch and not think about worst case scenarios. Thankfully, Sydney pulled through and is ALMOST 100%.

…and The Husband opted for purple heels in his plain black socks. This was super exciting because I’m not a plain black sock kind of girl and he is very much a plain black sock kind of guy.

A lot of folks seem annoyed by Olympic spoilers everywhere. I’m enjoying them because it allows me to know which events I want to watch and which ones I’d like to fastforward through since I recorded A LOT of the Olympics. This also helps with another problem. I was knitting and watching the Olympics and when I didn’t know the outcome, my hands were sweating a little bit. This did not occur when I already knew who was going to win. Yes, I’m one of those people that like to know the ending before I decide if I’m going to see a movie or read a book. What can I say, I LOVE a happy ending!

In other news, a friend of mine is going to knit A Horse of Course by Stacey Graham. She bought most of the yarn at our LYS and I offerred to wind it for her.
Berroco Peruvia
I give you Berroco Peruvia in Sol (gold), Pimentia (red), Baya (purple), Aquamarina, and Oats.

Does this remind anyone of anything?
