Katherine the Great
I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

1. I thought Charlize did a great job which might be because I’m a huge fan.

2. I’m totally over Kristen Stewart. Her “Braveheart” speech failed to impress but she didn’t have a ton to work with.

3. If you are about to jump off a cliff into the surf, you should try to take off some layers so you are not weighed down by your huge dress, petticoats, pants and boots. Write that down.

4. Several scenes were too long. The Sound of Music hike through the mountains scene had me wondering if they were trying to increase soundtrack sales.

4b. I could have used a little more closure on the Snow White/Huntsman relationship if I’m already in the theater for over two hours.

5. The costumes and scenery were AH-MAZING!….but I would have been fine without Mirror Man.

6. A twig of a girl on a fresh rested horse riding bareback would leave huge grown men on war horses with full armor & weapons in the dust.

7. I was disappointed to learn the dwarves were not actual little people. Totally charming, the lot of them.

So, overall, a good flick as long as you’re not expecting Lord of the Rings.

TH (the husband) and I went to see Snow White and the Huntsman. We got there early so we could get our preferred seats. And I brought a sock to work on….one of TH’s plain black socks I could work on by feel. Which was true if, after not working on it for over a week, I remembered correctly that the leg was 1×1 ribbing. I knit a couple of rounds and tried to verify the ribbing pattern matched using the light of my cell phone during the pre-previews. hmmm. not sure that’s right, but I’ll just keep going. Three rows later, this really doesn’t feel or look right even in the dark and I pull out the pattern and read that it should be 2×2 rib.
Oh.
Yea.
That sounds familiar. The other pair of socks I’m working on is 1×1 rib. So, I start unknitting. Turns out, I can do that in the dark too, which might mean that I unknit way way too much.

If you are a Hunter Hammersen fan, her patterns are on sale til the end of the day (eastern time), so pick out the ones you want!

Also, her new book will ship soon, so if you wanted to get it on sale, now is the time!!!

Sydney got another checkup after reducing some of her meds. Her red blood cells are holding steady, so I’m very excited. We stopped on the way home to buy her a plain vet-approved Sonic burger to celebrate!
