Katherine the Great
I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

How the evening went:
8:40pm The Husband and I arrive at the theater for the 10 o’clock showing. We are evidently the only people this excited to see H & G.
9:00 I’m knitting a dark blue sock and ask The Husband, “Why is it so dark in here?”
The Husband: “Because it’s a movie theater, not a knitting studio.”
me: “So, I’m confused, this is NOT a knitting studio?”
9:20 Other people enter the theater. A teenaged boy sits two seats away and proceeds to talk passionately to his friend for a solid 30 minutes about comic books. Same teenaged boy then says, “I mean, I’m not THAT into comic books.” I couldn’t help thinking to myself that clearly he was THAT into comic books and being a little sad that he couldn’t be himself. and then I thought that it would have been like me saying, “I’m not THAT into knitting.” Being an adult and comfortable in your own skin is vastly underrated.

10:00 The movie
– This movie was pretty bloody. When I started thinking about how I prefer the way Quentin Tarantino does blood, I knew they’d gone over the top.

– The script was better than expected. Possibly because the movie was only 90 minutes long.

– My favorite character was the troll. Played by Derek Mears and voiced by Robin Atkin Downes, he’s charming. And the best part is, his name’s Edward. A troll. named Edward. love it!

– Overall, it was what I expected and I enjoyed it for what it was. A cheesy bloody action film based on a fairy tale. I don’t always have highbrow taste in movies, but I’d watch a sequel and I’m willing to admit it.
