A local yarn shop review.
I was asked if I needed help when I entered the shop, but felt like I was interrupting the knitting group that was going on. Honestly, the whole group was giving off a pretty unhappy vibe for ladies knitting in a yarn shop in the middle of the day on a Thursday. Or maybe I looked a bit too Austin hippy for their taste in my flip flops, frayed jeans and T-shirt (Texas “winters” rock). Either way, I was able to get the help I needed finding a few things I’ve not seen previously. I bought:
Fiesta Baby Boom – Sun Face (first orange I’ve purchased with the intention to knit socks for myself)
Viking of Norway Nordlys superwash – 957 aka purple/pink. (I would have preferred the blue, but it was too smurfy).
sorry about the quality - I realized the glare was BAD later.
The bags and bags of yarn around the store were somewhat off-putting too, so I doubt I’ll be back just because I wasn’t a fan of the whole feel of the shop. But, in the interest of fairness, I should note that there is a 10% discount for joining the shop’s ravelry group and the shop’s prices are pretty reasonable with the discount.

LYS Review
I’ve been to Twisted Yarns in Old Town Spring before and had a chance to hit it again around New Year’s with J. I determined not to buy any yarn and was holding firm until they said all the yarn was 20% off. I’m not made of steel wool.
This is what I got. Fuchsia Ombre’ Fingering. I’m planning to try my first two at a time socks with it. I enjoy this LYS, so if you’re in the Houston area and have time for a trip to Spring, check it out!
